“If you ask Dr. Detra Duncan what her full-time job is, she’d likely tell you she’s a public health officer, but for Duncan, her career is only the tip of the iceberg. Always advocating for her community — especially its women and children — Duncan is herself a mother, but also a public servant. Last year she was elected the first African American woman to Fountain City Council, a move she hopes will inspire others. Duncan has served as president of her homeowners’ association, as board president of Cross Creek Regional Park, as a board member on the Fountain Planning Commission and as a Sunday school teacher. As a devout community leader, Dr. Duncan knows what matters most to our residents and is the only candidate that will put the interests of Fountain, Security, Widefield and all of south El Paso first. Councilwoman Duncan is experienced in taking on our communities top issues and ready to invest in our local businesses, fight for fair access to hospitals, and work with our law enforcement to defend our families when we need it the most.
