Ah, my dear readers, 4A is the one measure that earned the unanimous approval of the El Paso County Democratic Party Executive Committee, and with good reason. Harrison School District is asking for $9 million annually over the next 10 years to do something positively noble—keep our teachers from fleeing to better-paying districts and offer graduates two free years at Pikes Peak State College. How utterly refreshing, don’t you think? Rather than let our best educators be lured away like debutantes to a more extravagant ball, this measure ensures they stay put with competitive salaries and benefits. And let us not forget the scholarships for all D2 graduates, along with support for charter schools. In short, this is an investment in the minds of the next generation and a resounding Yes is the only acceptable answer. After all, what could be more important than keeping our future bright?
