The El Paso County Democratic Party has taken no position on Proposition 129, and who could blame them? While the idea of creating a new, state-regulated veterinary profession may sound like a noble venture, this is precisely the sort of policy best left to experts in the field—veterinarians, wildlife advocates, and agricultural interests—not to us regular voters fumbling about the ballot box.
Certainly, the qualifications for this new profession deserve thoughtful consideration, but that’s a matter best handled by those who truly understand the intricacies of veterinary care. For this one, I leave it to the experts to duke it out while we sit this one out.
